Fantasy Stud Dwight Dasher Under Investigation

Dwight Dasher’s season could be in jeopardy.  Middle Tennessee’s star quarterback is under investigation for allegedly failing to repay a loan and stealing a teammate’s checks to use as collateral.  A school spokesman said they are still in an inquiry stage and head coach Rick Stockstill doesn’t know whether Dasher will be available for the Blue Raiders’ opener against Minnesota.

The story is that Dasher owed a local senior citizen $1,500 from a loan he received and subsequently failed to repay.  A report was filed with campus police and passed along to the NCAA and the Sun Belt Conference.

Dasher is College Fantasy Coach’s number 4 ranked quarterback for 2010.  He threw for 2,789 yards and 23 TDs in 2009, and also ran 1,152 yards and 13 TDs. His dynamic play helped MTSU to a 10 win season capped by a New Orleans Bowl victory.  They enter the 2010 season as the conference favorites.

At this point, a suspension causing Dasher to miss a few games seems like the best case scenario, with dismissal being the worst.  You may want to avoid Dasher in your fantasy draft.  If you already had your draft and selected Dasher, you may want to start looking for possible trading partners to replace him if you didn’t draft a formidable back up QB.  Remember, quarterbacks are more valuable in college fantasy than NFL, often contributing up to 30% of your weekly point total.  Guys like Dasher are even more valuable because they pile up insane amounts of total yards due to their ability to run and pass.
