The Pass that Hit the Ground

Guest post written by Derick Burks

It was a pass that sailed way over the head of Donald Driver. How could it happen? It was the NFC Divisional Game against the Cardinals. It was the highest scoring game in NFL playoff history. When it got down to overtime and the Packers had the ball, they attempted a deep post pattern on 1st down. It had all the makings of a 98-yard touchdown pass, and it would have won the game. Instead, Aaron Rogers overthrew the ball by about 7 yards, not giving Driver a chance to catch up to it. When that pass was first in the air, I thought we had won the game. I was standing and shouting as I watched the game on satellite tv after my cable comparison in Indiana, hoping for a shot at the NFC Championship Game. But, to no avail. After that pass hit the ground, all I could think about was how they drove the ball down the field so well all game. Why not stick with the 5 and 10-yard passes? Then again, that’s hindsight and I can’t throw my team under the bus like that. They made a good call. It just didn’t work out.

This year will be even better. With the Saints losing some players and the Packers roster intact, I’m looking forward to a Super Bowl. I wouldn’t be surprised if it ended up Packers vs Jets in the Super Bowl this year. That would be interesting.
