Wager on the World Cup
We all know about the office pools, the legal and illegal wagering on the Super Bowl, but I wonder if there is more money wagered on the World Cup than the Super Bowl? There probably is given that betting in other countries doesn’t have the same stigma as applied by the United States which has subjected its citizens to draconian laws governing sports betting.
World Cup Betting is an international phenomenon and there is likely a considerable amount of money bet in the USA on the World Cup as well. Football (soccer) is growing in the USA every year and I for one, stayed home this morning to watch the USA versus Slovenia game.
The outcome was questionable for sure given the disallowed goal, but the USA should feel fortunate to comeback in the second half like it did. You have to wonder, however, whether the referee was doing a little World Cup Betting of his own given that call!
Oh well, no crying over spilled milk. When you are the largest country in the World Cup tournament, you should be able to beat the smallest country in the tournament. But, that’s the intrigue of the World Cup and World Cup Betting; you never know what is going to happen.
