2010 College Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Rankings

Wide receivers in college fantasy football have a strong dependence on their quarterback and offensive scheme for fantasy value. Typically, the no. 1 target of the top rated quarterbacks can be found near the top of wide receiver ratings.

Offensive schemes have gotten more complex in recent years thanks to the widespread use of the spread offense. Many wide receivers also log time on special teams, returning kickoffs and punts. That said, should fantasy football owners select a big, NFL-prototype receiver that will catch a lot of passes and eat up tons of yardage like Notre Dame’s Michael Floyd?

Or, should fantasy owners focus their wide receiving corps on building a roster of multi-position threats that can run, catch, and returns kicks – like  Dwayne Harris of East Carolina?

No matter what type of wide receiver you choose to build your team around in 2010, Notre Dame’s Michael Floyd has earned the top spot among wide receivers position heading into this season. His numbers were modest last season due to injuries that limited him to 7 games.  Over those seven games, he amassed 44 catches for 795 yards and 9 touchdowns.  Throw in Brian Kelly’s high scoring offense and you have a recipe for a huge season.
