What a Rush
If you are looking for rushing yardage for your college fantasy football team, why not look no further than
the teams that like to…rush.
The Sporting News analyzed the percentage of plays that teams spent on the ground game for the five previous seasons, 2004 – 2008.
Overwhelmingly the team that loves the ground game is the team whose players will soon be on the water. The Navy Midshipmen rush the ball 85.7% of the time. Another military school, the Air Force Falcons (whom you would think would like to put the ball in the air) run the ball 79.2% of the time. West Virginia is third; the Mountaineers run the ball 70.1% of the time.
Other teams that like the ground game are: Virginia Tech (63.6%); Oklahoma State (63.6%); Wisconsin (62.5%).
Navy averaged 57.8 carries per game followed by Air Force with 56.6 carries, and Oklahoma which averaged 50.0 carries per game.
