ESPN Gets In The Game With College Football Challenge

It was only a matter of time… the Washington Post announced Tuesday that ESPN has officially gotten on the college fantasy football bandwagon this season with their newest fantasy game: College Football Challenge.
ESPN is the second high-profile, mainstream media site to adopt a college fantasy football game which uses player names instead of generic “name and number” likenesses. CBS Sports was the trailblazer in this area among major media outlets, starting their game with real player names in 2008. Other fantasy sports websites like U-Sports and Head2Head Sports have been conducting college fantasy games on a smaller scale for years.
Every website that provides college fantasy football has their own interpretation of the game, and ESPN is no different. Players on ESPN will draft six offensive players with no regard to position, a kicker, and a defense each week.
Also, instead of competing in a private league, players are matched up against the entire entry universe. At the end of the season, the overall winner with the most points gets a pretty sweet grand prize…
A trip for two to the 2010 BCS title game. I have a feeling a lot of Florida Gator and Texas Longhorn fans are going to be entering this contest. Although all in all that’s not a bad reward for flexing a little college fantasy football muscle.
