2009 College Football Fantasy Leagues: Head2Head Sports

Head2Head Sports has been in the fantasy sports business since 1994. They haven’t had a college fantasy football game the whole time, but over the last few years they have developed a College Salary Cap game for their players.

Here’s the real basic details of Head2Head’s 2009 Salary Cap game:

  • Doesn’t include mid-major schools.
  • Teams cost $19.95
  • You can trade all ten of your players at least once during the season. To make more roster moves, you need to be a Season Pass member.

The College Salary Cap Concept: Team owners get a salary cap of $100 Million to pick a 10-player team of college football players from the BCS conferences (ACC, Big East, Big 10, Big 12, Notre Dame, Pac 10, SEC). Teams score points using the H2H scoring system. Like most salary cap games, player salaries are adjusted each week based on performance.  Each team consists of 1 quarterback, 3 running backs, 3 wideouts or tight ends, 1 kicker, 1 defense and 1 utility player that can play any position but defense.

College Salary Cap Scoring: Pretty standard scoring here. Touchdowns are worth 6, 1 point is awarded per 25 passing yards, and interceptions are a -2. Rushing and receiving yards are awarded 1 point per 10 yards, 1 point is awarded per catch, and fumbles lead to a -2. Field goals are worth 3 and extra point kicks are worth 1.

On defense, shutouts are worth 10 points, with a descending point scale ending in 0 points if your defense allows 21-27 points. Defenses earn negative points if they allow over 28 points. Defensive and special teams TDs are worth 6, safeties are worth 6, fumbles and interceptions are worth 4, and a sack is worth 2.

If you’re interested in paying to play college fantasy football and not interested in needing to know players from 120 FBS schools, then Head2Head might be a great option for you. For the purest college fantasy football geeks, however, this is probably not the top game option.
