CBS College Fantasy Football 2009

In 2008, CBSSports.com took college fantasy football one giant leap forward when they changed their game from team units (like Florida QB or Oklahoma TE) to individual players (Tim Tebow and Jermaine Gresham).

Following what they constituted as a successful first year, CBS Sports is back offering free college fantasy football for 2009.

CBS Sports’ College Fantasy Football offers the largest player pool of any fantasy sports game. Fantasy team owners can choose individual players from all 120 FBS schools. Just like last year, you can once again play with your favorite major and mid major players.

So congratulations… your crazy infatuation with Dennis Pitta can be fulfilled in fantasy football on CBS Sports.

While the debate rolls on as to whether CBS Sports has the best college fantasy football game, there’s no argument that their college game is the most popular. Here’s what new in 2009:

  1. FREE live scoring for AP Top 25, major BCS conference teams, Conference USA, and Notre Dame. Live scoring will also be available for teams matching up with any opponent that comes with live scoring. So despite the fact that Boise State is in the Mountain West, live scoring for its players will be available September 3 when they take the field against Oregon.
  2. League commissioners can now choose between 6, 8, and 10-teams. Last year the only option was 10-teams.
  3. The schedule has also been extended for one week. Last year it was only 12 weeks (2 of which were playoffs). The regular season will now run for 11 weeks followed by two weeks of playoffs. The two division winners and the next two best records will make up the playoff pool.

Other important notes about CBS Sports College Fantasy Football for 2009:

  • If you play in an 8 or 10-team league, you must select at least two conferences for player universe. 6-team formats can have only one conference.
  • Two division winners and two wildcards with the best records make up the playoffs.
