Great Venues for Watching Baseball

We all love college football, but this time of year is dedicated to baseball.  The World Baseball tournament is going on now and teams are in Spring Training in Florida or Arizona.  It’s a great time of the year for baseball and with March Madness on the horizon this week, it’s simply a great time to be a sports fan.

I’ve traveled to a lot of baseball ballparks over the years and these are some of my favorites.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim – They used to call this park the Big A because it had literally a Big A out in centerfield in the parking lot.  One summer, I lived in California and was able to purchase Angel Stadium tickets quite easily as the Dodgers were the more popular team in town.  The Angels have a great venue to watch baseball in and the ticket prices are very reasonable.  Today, the team is really good and they’ve won the American League West last year and should win it easily this season.

Los Angeles Dodgers — Of all of the parks that I’ve been to, Dodger Stadium is one of the best.  The park sits below the ground level of the seats so when you walk in, you actually look down on the action.  This is very unique and it’s such a beautiful setting nestled into the hills of Los Angeles.  It doesn’t have easy access and Dodgers fans are notorious for being late to games, but it’s been something special since it opened as Chavez Revine in 1962 soon after the Dodgers moved out of Brooklyn.  Dodger Stadium tickets are not easy to obtain and you should consider purchasing them from a reputable ticket broker.  With Manny Ramirez and great young talent like Andre Ethier in the lineup this year, the Dodgers will be very strong again.

Houston Astros — Unfortunately, this is one of the stadiums that I have yet to visit.  Minute Maid Park tickets can be obtained if you are planning a trip to the Lone Star State to see the Astros play.  The All Star game was held in Houston a few years ago and a lot of fans got their first glimpse of it then.  The Astros play in a park that is really a hitter’s park which is a big change from when they played in the Astrodome.  The weather is always good in Houston and this is a great place to watch a game.
