Your #1 Pick in 2009

Colt McCoy gets most of the press and his Texas Longhorns are certainly going to be tough to beat in 2009 with McCoy returning.

But, when it comes to college fantasy football, the guy you want to zero in on at quarterback in 2009 is Case Keenum.  Keenum passed for 5020 yards in 2009 and racked up an incredible 44 touchdown passes.  He also ran for seven touchdowns, including two in the Armed Forces Bowl against Air Force.

Keenum, who will be a junior in 2009, leads a potent Houston Cougar attack that will surely put up a lot of points once again this fall.  Houston has set its sites on what Tulsa and East Carolina could not do this year–get into a BCS Bowl.

And, with a schedule that shows only Texas Tech and Oklahoma State as its major hurdles, the Cougars are a good pick to show up in a post New Year’s Day bowl game.

How can you guys rank Keenum ahead of Bradford? Ridiculous.

Easy…Keenum LED THE NATION in total yards per game in 2009. From a fantasy football perspective, he passed for more than 5,000 yards and accounted for 51 touchdowns, passing and running. Bradford’s great, and will probably be a great NFL QB, but fantasy football is all about stats. Plus Keenum plays against crappy C-USA defenses so there’s a better chance for bigger numbers in the league games. Course, UH plays a much tougher OOC schedule than OU, as the Coogs have two Big 12 teams and one SEC team on their season slate. Both QBs are deserving of attention, no doubt about that. As to who comes out on top statistically, we’ll have to wait until the end of the season.

Whoops, meant to say 2008 in previous post.
