Onroo College Fantasy Basketball Draft

Here are the results of my individual draft in a recent 10-team, Onroo.com college fantasy basketball draft.

The draft was done online via an Autodraft, auction style format. I did pre-rank my teams based on some personal, twisted logic.

Team
American University
Iowa
Memphis
New Mexico State
Notre Dame
Southern Illinois
Temple
UNLV
West Virginia
Western Michigan

I registered a league on Onroo for CollegeFantasyCoach and quickly had 9 other players register for a 10-team, head-to-head league. Onroo doesn’t have a college fantasy basketball game with individual players. So far, the only game online that offers a service like that is U-Sports (more on that site and their college fantasy basketball game in a few days).

At Onroo, leagues are based on record in head-to-head competition. The top 4 teams make the playoffs.

A team earns points based on 3 points for a win, and loses 2 points for a loss. Bonus points are awarded for teams ranked in the Top 25. Here’s a breakdown of how much Top 25 rank is worth:

  • Weekly AP Rank #1: 10 point(s)
  • Weekly AP Rank #2 – #3: 8 point(s)
  • Weekly AP Poll Rank #4 – #5: 7 point(s)
  • Weekly AP Poll Rank #6 – #10: 5 point(s)
  • Weekly AP Poll Rank #11 – #20: 4 point(s)
  • Weekly AP Poll Rank #21 – #25: 3 point(s)

Now, GMs do have to set a lineup each week, and bonus points are factored into the positions that you play each team. For example, if you play a team in a “Doubler” slot, each win and loss is multiplied 2x. Play a team in a “Tripler” spot and each win and loss is multiplied 3x. Bench spots are scored straight up (no multiplier).

Team points also accumulate interest, good for up to 5% of your point balance each week once the season starts. The first interest bonus arrives on December 3. Interest awards DO count towards your head-to-head matchup score.

At Onroo, Week 1 of the college fantasy basketball season begins December 1. The season runs for 12 weeks and concludes on February 22.

Free agent teams not won in the auction are available as “free agents” for 25 points.
