College Fantasy Basketball Review: WhatIfSports
WhatIfSports has fantasy sports in its truest form.
Unlike Yahoo!, CBSSports, ESPN, and those other sites that offer realtime, real life fantasy games, WhatIfSports hosts simulated contests between your favorite teams of this year… and yesteryear.
You can’t play 2008-09 college fantasy basketball on WhatIfSports. As I said, that’s not the beauty of the site. WhatIfSports allows sports fans to answer those long standing questions about who would win if teams from throughout history could match up.
How would the 2007-08 National Champion Kansas Jayhawks fair against the Danny Manning/Larry Brown-led KU team that won the national championship in 1988?
While there is no way Jayhawks fans would allow this game to be played anywhere but Allen Fieldhouse, we’ll act like it is scheduled on a neutral court, thus taking away any perceived “home court advantage.”
Here’s the results from our single elimination simulation:
07-08 Jayhawks 95, 87-88 Jayhawks 61
Does that answer the question? Is last year’s Jayhawk squad really 34 points better than the ‘88 championship team?
Either way, I know there are now a ton of games you want to simulate. Here’s how you get hooked up with WhatIfSports:
- Go to WhatIfSports.com and register
- Click “SimMatchup” and pick your sport of choice. We recommend NCAA Football or NCAA Basketball.
- Select your teams
- Confirm your starting lineups
- Make sure your web browser allows popups
- Click “PLAY”
I LOVE this site! And I think you will too. Thanks for making all of our bar debates that much easier, WhatIfSports.
