Top 10 Mid-Major College Fantasy Football Quarterbacks

Standard CBSSports.com college fantasy football leagues do not include mid-major conferences like the MAC, WAC, C-USA, and Mountain West in their league settings.

But doesn’t mean YOU can’t have players from those conferences in your player college fantasy football universe.

To help you handicap the best players you’ve probably never heard of, College Fantasy Coach has put together a top 10 list of the best college fantasy football quarterbacks from mid-major conferences. Thanks to our main man DuBBZ for his freelance analysis.

1. Dan LeFevour, Central Michigan: LeFevour is Tim Tebow-lite. His 2007 numbers included 1122 rushing yards and 3652 passing yards (4774 total, 600 more than Tebow) with 46 total touchdowns. He is in line for another monster in 2008. Place him 3rd overall on your overall quarterback cheat sheet behind Tim Tebow and Graham Harrell in leagues that include the MAC.

2. Chase Holbrook, New Mexico State: He had 28 TDs and 3866 passing yards last season. Holbrook is the best quarterback in the WAC, overshadowed by Hawaii gun slinger Colt Brennan last year when he produced 28 touchdowns and 3866 passing yards. Consider him the 7th best college fantasy football quarterback if your league allows non-BCS conferences.

3. Nate Davis, Ball State: Davis had 35 touchdowns and 3690 total yards last season, and should create enough excitement on the field that Ball State alum David Letterman will bring back the ‘Ball State fighting football Fighting Cardinals’ segment to his show. Davis is a top 10 pick in all leagues with a full FBS player universe.

4. Max Hall, BYU: Because the BYU Cougars are the favorite to crash the BCS in 2008, Hall will probably be the most covered quarterback on this list. He accumulated 27 touchdowns and 3848 total yards last year. Consider him a top 15 signal caller in all inclusive leagues.

5. Rusty Smith, Florida Atlantic: Single handedly putting the Sun Belt on the map, Smith had 34 touchdowns last season and 3688 passing yards. Also consider him a top 15 QB in all inclusive leagues.

The best of the rest in the mid-major conferences include:
Chase Clement, Rice: CUSA’s best. 37 TDs and 3912 total yards.
Justin Willis, Southern Methodist: 28 TDs and 3643 total yards
Colin Kaepernick, Nevada: 25 TDs and 2768 total yards
Tyler Sheehan, Bowling Green: 26 TDs and 3412 total yards
Tyler Graunke, Hawaii: 10 touchdowns and 1234 passing yards in mop-up duty behind Colt Brennan.
