College Fantasy Football BCS Quarterback Rankings

In college fantasy football, quarterback is possibly the most important position you can draft. With the spread offenses permeating through college football, quarterbacks have the opportunity each week to put up ridiculous statistics.

As a special contribution to College Fantasy Coach, Penn State pigskin savant DuBBZ has combined his college football knowledge and fantasy football experience to help create some pre-season college fantasy football rankings for your upcoming draft.

Below you will find DuBBZ’s pre-season evaluations of the top five college fantasy football quarterbacks in BCS conferences.

1. Graham Harrell, Texas Tech: With points being the same for running AND passing touchdowns, I would have to favor Harrell. Texas Tech’s schedule is easier than last year. Missouri (Harrell’s worst game in 2007) is replaced by Nebraska… and their 112th ranked defense. The Red Raiders bring back their entire offensive line and top two receivers. Harrell will probably better his 48 Td total from last year. Expect Colt Brennan-type numbers.

2. Tim Tebow, Florida: A close second to Harrell. Hard to believe he can carry the ball 200 plus times again without getting hurt, even if just misses a game. Tebow had one of the most prolific years ever last season and still barely edged out Harrell, fantasy points-wise. I don’t see him repeating 55 touchdowns and 4181 total yards this year. Miami joins Florida’s more difficult 2008 schedule, and the Gators are unlikely to score 59 against Tennessee again.

3. Chase Daniel, Missouri: There is a big drop off here. Daniel should improve on his 33 touchdowns and 4400 yards, and his top receivers are back (including stud Jeremy Maclin). With no sure fire replacement for departed halfback Tony Temple, the Tigers are going to air it out. Daniel’s worst two games last year were against Oklahoma (1TD, 3 INTs), and they’re not on Mizzou’s schedule this season.

4. Zac Robinson, Oklahoma State: A year older and better, Robinson is the top mobile QB in this year’s class. He should accumulate roughly 30 touchdowns and 3500 yards. The Cowboys lost a star wideout (Adarious Bowman), but the offensive line is good so he should be able to run. I like that he plays in the Big 12, an offense friendly conference.

5. Pat White, West Virginia: White’s numbers were similar in 2006 and ‘07, so you should be able to book 3000 total yards and 30 touchdowns again in 2008. Some worries with White, though, he has gotten banged up each of the last two seasons and doesn’t have former coach Rich Rodriguez calling his plays.
